چکیده

Background and Objectives: AmpC β-lactamase producing Escherichia coli has emerged in hospital environments as an important health issue that is of a global concern drug-resistant pathogenic bacteria evolved into strains are resistant to many classes antibiotics. However, awareness the prevalence microorganisms such E. could be very valuable for achieving more accurate epidemiological results, well controlling their spread different wards.
Methodology: A total four hundred (400) clinical samples comprising two seventy-nine (279) urine one Twenty-one (121) wound were collected from patients ward at AE-FUTHA. The analyze using standard microbiological culture identification coli. Detection phenotypic β-lactamases production was performed Cefoxitin-Cloxacillin Double-Disk Synergy Test (CC-DDST). Antibiotic susceptibility studies determined Kirby–Bauer disk diffusion method results construed Clinical Laboratory Standard Institute (CLSI) zone diameter breakpoints.
Results: Phenotypic accounted overall rate 94.1%. frequency 57(93.4%) high occurrence Surgical 15(100%) followed by medical 24(88.9%) but also 38(95.0%) consisting 9(100 %) children 10(100%) Orthopedic 13(86.7%) with least rate. exhibited percentage resistance within range 50-100% against ceftriaxone, ceftazidime, cefepime, azetronam, Trimethoprim-Sulfamethoxazole Ticarcillin-clavulanic acid susceptible ofloxacin 70.0%, Imipenem 83.3% amikacin 100%.
Conclusion: findings this study proof among admitted wards there’s urgent need managing development MDR genotype strain. Moreover, prevent other improve effectiveness antibiotics, it suggested establish precise schedule antibiotic use each region based on pattern.

Phenotypic Detection Of Metallo-beta-lactamase Producing Pseudomonas aeruginosa Strains Isolated From Burned Patients

Background and Objective: Metallo-beta-lactamase (MBL)-mediated resistance is an emerging threat in hospital isolates of Pseudomonas aeruginosa. There is not enough information from Iran regarding the prevalence and the screening methods for such enzymes. The present study was undertaken to detect Metallo betalactamase in strains of P. aeruginosa isolated from burned patien...

Emergence of ertapenem resistance in an Escherichia coli clinical isolate producing extended-spectrum beta-lactamase AmpC.

Escherichia coli isolate MEV, responsible for a bloodstream infection, was resistant to penicillins, cephalosporins, and ertapenem. Molecular and biochemical characterization revealed the production of a novel, chromosome-borne, extended-spectrum AmpC (ESAC) β-lactamase with a Ser-282 duplication and increased carbapenemase activity. This study demonstrates for the first time that chromosome-bo...

Detection of plasmid-mediated AmpC β-lactamase in Escherichia coli

Escherichia coli (E. coli) is a common opportunistic pathogen for nosocomial infection. The aim of the study was to examine the phenotype, genotype and epidemiology of plasmid-mediated AmpC β-lactamases in E. coli. In total, 96 clinical isolates of repeated E. coli were collected from different hospitals between August and October 2012. Using a cefoxitin disk diffusion method to identify the ph...
